We’ve all been there - You know when you’re at a get together wearing your new favorite outfit (white of course) and you get that dreaded elbow bump and you’re now wearing your pinot noir. Or you’re hosting a party and notice red wine spills on your brand-new couch. Life happens especially when there is wine involved, but don’t fret-we have a few tips to help get those red wine stains out- so you can get back to enjoying the wine and stop stressing about the mess.
Wine Away- If you have not heard of this red wine stain remover and you enjoy your glass of wine and hosting parties, it is time you met this miracle in a bottle. Definitely the easiest and best way to remove red wine stains.
Although adding a travel bottle of Wine Away would fit comfortably in your PortoVino Wine Purse, we get that most of us do not usually carry emergency situation go-to products around with us. So, we do have some other suggestions when you are away from home and need to get rid of that red wine.
Dab, dab and some more dab- When a little Cabernet seems like it is about to ruin your day, grab a napkin and dab away. It is extremely important to not rub the stain as rubbing can make the stain set and this is the last thing you want. So, when in doubt, dab away
Treat the stain right away-To avoid a permanent purple spot on your brand-new couch, deal with the spill as soon as possible so that it does not set. Dried stains are much harder to remove, so improve your odds of success by treating the mess while it is fresh. Start dabbing right away to absorb as much of the wine as possible and then treat as soon as you can. Club soda has been the go-to wine stain remover and for reason! A little trick dilute the club soda with some hydrogen peroxide as this gives it an extra boost which helps lift that stain right out!
Do not use Bleach- at least not just yet. While bleach can help get rid of red wine stains on a white shirt or other white clothing or bedding, it will discolor anything else.
Salt can do wonders-Salt will absorb the wine and lift the color away from the surface. After you have blotted the stain to remove what you can, try dabbing it with a little cold water and then spread plenty of salt over the affected area. Let it sit for at least five minutes to absorb more of the wine. The type of salt that you use does not matter- any salt will do.
Wash or Dry Clean- It is always a good idea to wash or better yet have the fabric dry cleaned after the stain has been lifted.
It is never fun when a little spill ruins your day. Wine is meant for drinking, not spilling right, but when it does, these tips can help get those stains out. So go ahead and fill up your Portovino with your favorite bottle of wine and stress no more! Cheers to arming yourself with these little life hacks that will hopefully make your life a little easier!
