Ah, the 4th of July is upon us and personally we could not be more excited. As we come together (in small groups of course :) to celebrate the independence and freedom as a nation, we all know that the 4th of July is also a celebration of summer. Nothing says summer more than the sounds of kids laughing in the pool, the smell of freshly cooked food coming right off the grill while sipping on a refreshing libation and simply having some fun in the sun. Beat the heat this year and throw an Independence Day celebration with some good old fashioned fun in the pool, a little backyard BBQ and of course some great friends (and not to mention some delicious patriotic drinks)
Great food - Backyard BBQs and 4th of July celebrations go hand-in-hand. Fire up the grill and throw some fresh corn on the cob, yummy burgers, and some grilled veggies and you have the perfect backyard BBQ. If you plan to be in celebration mode all day consider having some snacks ready for your guests to munch on as they choose. Finger foods are a great way to keep your guest full and enjoying the time in the sun. Veggie and cheese plates make great healthy choices as well. I mean, after all, you will need some good foods to keep your energy up to enjoy the day in the pool with your friends, right? Some other great finger foods that we love can be found right here
Yummy Patriotic Drinks - No 4th of July celebration would be complete without some refreshing and delicious beverages. Get creative this year and tap into your inner bartender and create some patriotic drinks for your guests to enjoy. We personally love this Sparkling sangria. Here are some other great ideas of some cocktails that are simple to make but show off your patriotism. They all look so yummy :)
Poolside fun - Grab a few floaties and rafts and throw them in the pool. Let your guests just relax and unwind today and feel the warmth of the sun on their faces. Consider setting up some poolside games if you have some younger guests that will be attending. Feeling competitive? Opt for a game of beach ball race (fun for the whole gang). Simply blow up a bunch of beach balls— one person throws them at the far end of the pool and then everyone races to get as many as they can. Simple, fun and not to mention some good exercise :)
Fireworks - As the sun starts to set grab some small fireworks and sparklers and end the evening with some fun. Depending on where you live and what your state laws are will of course dictate what you can set off on your own. Be safe, and always opt for the mini, colorful yet safe fireworks. Sparklers are great for this and just a little enjoyable way to help celebrate our freedom.
Music - Get the party going with some lively music. Grab some waterproof speakers and crank up the tunes! Set up a poolside playlist with a bunch of different styles of music, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Of course, you will need some sunscreen and your Portovino Wine Purse. Save the trips in and out of the house and serve your favorite cocktail, wine or any beverage you would like right from your purse. Get super festive and grab our canvas USA tote right here. We have had a rough few months, no question about it. So today as you raise your glass and toast to the red, white and blue, toast to the freedom that each and every one of us in our great country deserves. Because together we can make sure that that there truly is Liberty and Justice for all! Happy 4th of July everyone.
